PROCESS FOR DETACKIFICATION OF PAINT SPRAY OPERATION WASTES USING MELAMINE FORMALDEHYDE

An improved method for killing over-sprayed paints which requires a) alkalinity adjustment of paint spray booth water to at least about 50 ppm, preferably about 200-600 ppm, on a calcium carbonate basis; b) addition of a melamine-formaldehyde polymer to paint spray booth water; c) addition of a polymeric coagulant to paint spray booth water; and d) separation of the resulting floc.
