METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONVERTING PICTURE DATA

PURPOSE:To reduce the number of times of multiplication and addition by obtaining the sum and the difference of constants opposed to each other in a same row in an input signal in advance and using the sum or the difference depending on the position of the constant in a column after the conversion to be obtained for the calculation. CONSTITUTION:A relative constant addition means 2 obtains the sum of data opposed to each other in a same row in an input signal in advance and a relative coefficient subtraction means 3 obtains the difference, a selective means 4 selects the sum for the calculation of odd number columns and selects the difference for the calculation of even number columns and adds the relevant data to halve the number of times of multiplication. Moreover, plural number of the relative constant addition means 2 and the relative coefficient subtraction means 3 are employed and also plural number of multiplication means 5 and accumulation means 6 are employed to quicken the arithmetic time.
