A checking is made as to whether a paging access code is inputted by an intra-station subscriber under a hook-off state, and if the paging access code is inputted, a pager call code is inputted, as well as turning on the pager system. Then the system waits for a certain period of time, after which the inputted pager call code is outputted to the pager system so as for the pager system to issue pager signals. Then the system waits for another certain period of time, after which the pager system is turned off to terminate the operation. The pocket bell system is controlled by a central switching system to eliminate the need of a separate operator.
