PURPOSE:To execute copying on both sides of a paper and to obtain an image which is not deviated between both sides of the paper even when both-side copying is performed to the original of an undefined size by exposing and scanning the original which is either side by taking one end as reference and continuously exposing and scanning the original which is the other side by taking the other end as reference. CONSTITUTION:When copying is performed on both sides of the paper P, in the case of the original 12 of the undefined size, an undefined both-side copying key 63 is inputted. Then, the scanning mechanism or the lighting circuit of an exposing and scanning means 21 is set at the exposure by taking a left end as reference in which an area A is exposed and scanned, and a paper supply means 51 erects a switching gate 56a so as to guide the paper P to an intermediate tray 56b. Furthermore, an aligning roller 55 is also allowed to cope with the exposure by taking the left end as reference. When the original 12 is placed in a state where an upper end 12a(reference end) abuts on a reference body 16a and a copying start key 3 is pushed, the paper P where the image is formed on its surface side is guided by the switching guide 56a and housed in the intermediate tray 56b after fixing, then an image forming device is stopped. Then, the device is switched to copying by taking a right end as reference according to the command of a controller 62. When the copying is performed in a state where the original 12 is inverted and the upper end 12a is allowed to abut on the reference body 16b, the copy P where the upper end 12a of the original 12 is aligned between the surface side and the back surface side of the paper is obtained. |
