The polyamide compositions for packaging materials are compostable and contain 5-25 % by weight of added linear, oligomeric, aliphatic polyesters or polycarbonates having molecular weights of 800-4000. These additives preferably comprise polyesters made from aliphatic diols and dicarboxylic acids, each having up to 10 carbon atoms, or aliphatic polycarbonates having up to 10 carbon atoms. Corresponding mixtures are used for readily degradable, compostable polyamide packaging, in particular in the form of films or thin-walled injection mouldings for (foodstuffs) packaging.
