The method is intended for producing a pair of spectacles using two lens (30,32) blanks and a frame comprising a bridge, a nose pad or pads, two side hinge elements and two temple arms. The positions of the nose (14,16,18) contact area(s) (40,42) are measured, the blank edges are ground into the desired shape, the pad or pads are fashioned in accordance with the contact area measurement, and the respective components are assembled such that the lenses are in the correct positions relative to at least two reference points related to the eyes (2,4). For each pad, the position of at least one point (P3,4) within or near the nose contact area (40,42) is measured relative to the reference points in a spatial coordinate system and the positions of the pad support areas in this system are determined from this measurement. The frame is then assembled, selecting or aligning the pads accordingly.
