<p>PURPOSE:To expand a region in which a combined resistance value is not increased suddenly and which can be used for trimming operation near a second pair of external electrodes by a method wherein a bypass resistor is connected across the second pair of external electrodes and an electric current flowing across a first pair of external electrodes is divided into a filmlike resistor and a bypass resistance. CONSTITUTION:A first pair of external electrodes 2A which are connected to resistance terminals 9, 10 are extended in a triangular shape on the surface of an insulating substrate 1; their vertexes are connected to each other at a contact 15. The cutting operation of a filmlike resistor 3 is started from the contact 15 of the first pair of external electrodes 2A. In order to connect the first pair of external electrodes 2A to each other, a resistance value is first started from nearly zero. When the contact of the external electrodes is cut, the resistance value starts to increase, and continues to increase smoothly by the action of the triangular external electrodes. A large change wish can be obtained. A resistance across the resistance terminals 9, 10 is increased. This method has an effect that a region which can be used actually for a trimming operation is expanded not only near a second pair of external electrodes 2B but also near the first pair of external electrodes 2A.</p> |
