<p>PURPOSE:To freely measure the number of passing packets in probability from a CPU, etc., by measuring the number of passing of the packet in a packet switch. CONSTITUTION:A packet flowmeter is provided with a detector 101 for detecting an ATM cell (packet cell) for passing through the inside of a packet switch. This detector 101 detects an effective cell or a free cell., sends out a packet detecting signal 104 in the case of the effective cell, and sends out a nondetecting signal 104 in the case of the free cell. Also, this packet flowmeter is provided with a timer 103 for setting a measurement time by input synchronization of the ATM cell (effective cell and free cell), and sending out a time-out signal 105, when this set measurement time arrives, and a counter 102 for counting the effective cell by the packet detecting signal 104 from the detector 101 until the time-out signal from this timer 103 is sent out.</p> |
