<p>PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition composed of an unsaturated polyester synthesized using a specified glycol component and a polymerizable monomer and capable of producing an artificial marble excellent in impact resistance and thermal shock resistance by polymerizing and curing together with an inorganic powder in a mold. CONSTITUTION:A composition obtained by dissolving (A) 10-70 pts.wt., preferably 30-50 pts.wt. unsaturated polyester synthesized using a glycol (e.g. 2- methylpropan-1,3-diol or 3-methyl-2-penten-1,5-diol) having an alkyl group as a side chain in an amount of >=5mol%, preferably >=30mol% based on the total glycol components in (B) 30-90 pts.wt., preferably 50-70 pts.wt. alpha,beta-unsaturated monomer (e.g. styrene). By adding 30-80wt.% inorganic filler (preferably glass powder, aluminum hydroxide, etc.), a curing catalyst, a curing promoter, etc., to the above-mentioned composition and subsequently carrying out polymerization and curing in a mold, an artificial marble can be obtained.</p> |
