PURPOSE:To ensure that a displayed message is easily interpreted by converting a message stored in a message storage device by a user using a message conversion device. CONSTITUTION:If a printer control circuit 810 detects any abnormality, data indicating the abnormality S1 is transferred to the control part 850 of a liquid crystal display device from fixed message memory 820. Then 'ERROR' is displayed on the liquid crystal display device 161 based on data S1. However, if a display change to 'JAM' is required, data S2 corresponding to the display 'JAM' is stored in user's prepared message memory 830 by operation of a host computer 700. Next, if any abnormality is detected by the printer control circuit 810, data S2 indicating the abnormality is transferred to the control part 850 of the liquid crystal display device from the user's prepared message memory 830, and 'JAM' is displayed on the liquid crystal display device 161 according to the data S2. |
