<p>PURPOSE:To constitute a faithful color picture, where a luminance signal and color difference signals coincide with each other with respect to time and position on the picture, by providing such transposing means that rectangular units of the luminance signal and color difference signals in the same position on the picture are included in the same block. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed number of rectangular units of the luminance signal and color difference signals in the same position on the picture are so transposed by a transposing memory 12 that they are always continuous. The luminance signal and color difference signals in each rectangular unit are subjected to orthogonal conversion encoding by an orthogonal converter 13 and is encoded to a variable length code in accordance with the information volume of the rectangular unit by a variable length encoder 14. Information of the prescribed number of rectangular units are collected to form a fixed length block by a blocking device, and an error correction code is added by a correction code encoder 16, and this block is recorded on a magnetic tape 17. At the time of reproducing, data is transposed in the order opposite to the recording side by a transposing memory 21, and the reproduced signal is outputted in the same line sequence as the video signal by a deformatter 22.</p> |
