PURPOSE:To suppress generation of unnecessary copying and damage in a document itself to a minimum limit by counting a number of supplied documents, and stopping supply of the document in the case of discriminating a counted number of the supplied documents to exceed a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:A circulation detecting sensor SEN1 of a document detects one direction of the sheet document X, mounted in a document hopper 11, in cooperation with an actuator 47. In the case of this circulation detecting sensor SEN1 not normally actuated for some reason, there is possibility of endlessly supplying the document X without knowing how many times the sheet document X is circulated. In order to prevent this possibility, stepping is performed in a counter on a program at each supply of the sheet document X, and in the case of a counted value of this counter exceeding a predetermined value, the circulation detecting sensor SEN1 judges improper action to stop the supply of the document. In this way, generation of unnecessary copying and damage in the document X itself can be suppressed to a minimum limit. |
