PURPOSE:To prevent breakage of a filter at a portion of the gas blow-off hole of a case in a gas generator for an air bag for absorbing shock in the case of collision by providing a gas passage interrupting member at a position facing to the gas blow-off hole inside an outer wall. CONSTITUTION:A gas passage interrupting member 19 composed of a metallic shim is provided in a position facing to a gas blow-off hole 17 inside the outer wall 16 of a gas generator for an air bag. The shim is attached by fitting it to the inner peripheral surface of a filter 18. In this constitution, an igniter 13 is operated by a shock detecting sensor, and ignition agent 12 is ignited. Then, gas generating agent 15 burns and the generated gas is introduced into the filter 18 after detouring the gas passage interrupting member 19 as shown with arrows. Consequently, the filter 18 can be protected because the generated gas does not collide directly with the filter 18. |
