PURPOSE:To prevent dullness of an edge part by not uniformly adding a correction code but using a normalized correction value. CONSTITUTION:Codes X1 to X8 of peripheral picture elements from a peripheral data taking-out circuit 26 and a code X0 of a noticed picture element are supplied to a comparing circuit 27. The output signal of the comparing circuit 27 is supplied to a totalizing circuit 28, and its output signal alpha is supplied to a correction code generating circuit 29, and a correction code beta is outputted and is supplied to a normalizing circuit 30. This circuit 30 normalizes the correction code beta by a function f(n), whose value is increased in accordance with increase of a number (n) of assigned bits, from a function generating circuit 32 and supplies it to an adding circuit 33. An output signal XO' of the adding circuit 33, a dynamic range DR from a delay circuit 24, and the number (n) of assigned bits are supplied to a decoding circuit 34 and are subjected to decoding processing. |
