PURPOSE:To attain errorless and accurate azimuth detection by calculating the arrival direction of a radio wave from a stationary satellite and calculating the azimuth of a vehicle from the radio wave arriving direction. CONSTITUTION:A radio wave S0 is originated from a broadcasting stationary satellite(BS) and automatically traced and received by an antenna 5a mounted on a vehicle while automatically rotating the antenna 5 and a navigation controller 2 calculates the arrival angle of the radio wave S0 based upon the received data and then calculates the advancing azimuth of the vehicle based upon the calculated angle. A road having the same azimuth as the calculated advancing azimuth is retrieved from map information stored in a CD-ROM 3a. Consequently, highly accurate azimuth data with less unfavorable influence of obstacles can be obtained. |
