PURPOSE:To realize file transfer within the same time as that required for transferring sequential files of the same capacity even when files of any kind of attribute are transferred by rewriting the attribute information of a file in the sequential files. CONSTITUTION:This file transferring system has a process 1 for transmitting attribute information after converting the information into a sequential file form, process 2 for transmitting file data of the sequential file form after reading, process 3 for securing a file area on the basis of sequential attributes and updating the attribute information converted into the sequential file form to the original attribute information, and process 4 for writing data of the sequential file form. A file to be transferred is transmitted as sequential files 14 and the attribute of the file to be transferred is informed to the receiving side, and then, the received sequential files 15 are restored to the file of the attribute informed from the transmitting side. Therefore, the inputting and outputting time is reduced, because the need for inputting and outputting files according to each attribute is eliminated.
