PURPOSE:To use the address space effectively, by using stored contents of information indicating a continuable section of addresses to detect whether the base address and the effective address exist in the same segment or not. CONSTITUTION:Sections of section number n-3-n are used as one segment. If the section number of the base address is n-2, the last section number n of the segment to which the base address belongs is read out from a storage mechanism 4 and is stored in a register 16. Next, a part 17, which indicates the section number, of an effective address 13 is sent to a comparator 19. The comparator 19 compares this part 17 with contents of the register 16, and transmits an interrupt signal through a signal line 21 if the former is larger than the latter. Thus, the size of the segment is determined in accordance with the size of the address space which the program requires, thereby using the address space effectively. |
