PURPOSE:To directly immobilize CO2 in the ocean and to rapidly treat a large amount of carbon dioxide by bringing carbon dioxide into contact with seawater under specific pressure at specific temp. to form a hydrate of carbon dioxide and water. CONSTITUTION:A high pressure pump 2 supplying carbon dioxide under water pressure of 13atm. or higher and a gas introducing pipe 3 capable of introducing gas into seawater of -4 to 10 deg.C under water pressure of 13atm. or higher are provided and a valve 5 preventing the reverse flow of seawater is provided to the gas introducing pipe 3. Then, carbon dioxide is brought into contact with seawater at -4 to 10 deg.C under water pressure of 13atm. or higher to form a hydrate (clathrate) of carbon dioxide and seawater. As a result, carbon dioxide can be fixed to the bottom of the sea because it is settled under the own wt. of the hydrate. Further, the pH change of seawater is low and no direct effect is imparted on an ocean biological system. Furthermore, the reducing effect of carbon dioxide is large. |
