The object of the invention is to provide a method and composition for treating blepharitis or blepharoconjunctivitis which comprises topical administration of a nitroimidazole compound, e.g. metronidazole in a suitable ophthalmic carrier directly to affected ocular tissues. The carrier can be based on an artificial tear solution, an ointment, a water soluble gel, a nonaqueous carrier or an eyelash shampoo. |
