PURPOSE:To reduce the processing time for drawing a straight line as a whole by properly using a Bresenham method and linear approximation method depending upon the inclination of the straight line of vector information. CONSTITUTION:This picture forming device is provided with the 1st straight line drawing means A which calculates all pixel positions used for approximating a straight line from vector information and writes calculated results in a bit map memory. In addition, the 2nd straight line drawing means B which finds one or more straight lines in the direction perpendicular or parallel to the scanning direction for approximating the straight lines from the vector information and writes found results in the bit map memory and a picture drawing selecting means C which selects the 1st or 2nd means A or B depending upon the inclination of the straight line of inputted vector information are also provided to this picture forming device. Since the picture drawing selecting means C selects the 1st or 2nd straight line drawing means A or B depending upon the inclination of the straight line of the inputted vector information in such way, the processing speed of the straight line drawing can be improved and the time required for making the process can be reduced as a whole. |
