PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a busy shift and to produce a proper drive force by providing an intermediate stage setting means to set an intermediate stage between two speeds when detecting shift frequency exceeds a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:E is an engine, T is a torque converter, A is an automatic transmission, and C is a hydraulic control device. The automatic transmission A is formed such that it can be set to a main speed selected based on a running condition, such as a throttle opening, a car sped, and the number of revolutions of a turbine, and an intermediate speed at which a change gear ratio is set to the intermediate value of the main speed. The automatic transmission A is provided with a shift frequency detecting means 10 and an intermediate sped setting means 11. The shift frequency detecting means 10 is formed so as to detect repeating frequency of a shift between two main speeds between which some intermediate speed is nipped. The intermediate speed setting means 11 is formed so as to output an oil pressure control device C so that an intermediate speed is set when detecting shift frequency exceeds a given value. |
