PURPOSE:To automatically modify or newly construct a knowledge base by using past historical data by storing data about the relation between an event and conclusion in a history file when the relation comes to existence. CONSTITUTION:A knowledge storing means 11, synthesized knowledge storing means 13, history data storing means 31, and knowledge synthesizing/modifying means 12 are provided and the synthesized knowledge in the means 13 about the same event and conclusion as the knowledge resynthesized by the means 12 is updated by using the resynthesized knowledge. When data representing relations between occurred events and conclusions are stored in such way, an already set knowledge base can be modified and, since the knowledge base is modified by using the data representing relations between actually occurred events and conclusions, more accurate approximation inference becomes possible.
