Novel herbicidally active 5-chloro-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yloxy-acetamides of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 and R2 independently of one another represent alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl or optionally substituted cycloalkenyl, halogenoalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyleneoxy or alkoxy, aralkyl or optionally substituted aryl or R1 and R2 conjointly with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded represent an optionally substituted, saturated or unsaturated heterocyclic ring which can contain further hetero-atoms and to which a benzene radical can be fused.
