<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the number of necessary gates by providing this printer with plural shift registers for storing image data binarily weighted in accordance with respective connecting positions and plural gate means for forming picture elements based upon the contents of the registers and an output enable signal weighted by pulse width. CONSTITUTION:The printer is provided with the shift registers 61 to 64 for storing image data binarily weighted in accordance with respective connecting positions and the gate means (7 to 11)1, (7 to 11)2 for forming picture elements based upon the contents of the registers 61 to 62 and the output enable signal weighted by the pulse width. Although 6272 gates are required by a convensional method in the case of driving 64 LEDs in 256 gradations, this method requires only 2688 gates, which is about a half of the convensional example. Consequently, the number of necessary gates is reduced.</p> |
