TAPE FEEDING APPARATUS Tape feeding apparatus is provided to feed patches of tape from a tape supply to a sewing location. The tape in question has short, resilient hooks firmly attached thereto extending from a first surface of the tape. The apparatus includes a supporting device including parallel guides. At least one of the guides is movable toward and away from the other to accommodate tapes of different widths. The guides serve to guide the tape along a path from the tape supply toward the sewing location. Intersecting the path is a one-way propulsion device which moves the tape only toward the sewing location. At a location along the path between the one-way propulsion device and the sewing location is a severing device that severs one of the patches at a time from the end portion of the tape extending toward the sewing location. A holding device holds the end portion of the tape during the severing of each patch. An adjustable receiving device receives the patches, one at a time. It includes first and second parallel sides, at least one of which is adjustable toward and away from the other to set the space between them according to the width of the tape and a third side perpendicular to the first two to receive the edge of the patch that previously consituted the end of the portion of the tape from which that patch was severed. The third side holds that edge in a predetermined position in the sewing location. The receiving device is open along the fourth side facing the severing device. |
