PURPOSE:To obtain the subject sliding material, excellent in hermetic sealability and useful as seals, etc., by fixing carbon fiber in a spiral form on a sliding surface of a sliding material body with a resin, carrying out carbonizing treatment of the aforementioned resin and infiltration treatment of Si into the carbon fiber and thereby forming SiC-based fiber. CONSTITUTION:The objective sliding material is obtained by fixing carbon fiber in a spiral form on a sliding surface 2 of a sliding material body 1 which is an annular body, then carrying out carbonizing treatment of the above- mentioned resin and infiltration treatment of Si into the carbon fiber and forming Sin-based fiber 3 arranged in the spiral form. |
