PURPOSE:To obtain the subject article useful as magnetic tapes or electric insulating materials, etc., having excellent mechanical properties in good productivity by making liquid crystalline polyester having a specific composition modified with a specific compound to a film with an inflation method. CONSTITUTION:(A) Polyester containing p-hydroxybenzoic acid, terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol as principal components and able to form anisotropic melt is reacted with (B) biscarbodiimide-based compound [e.g. ethylene-bis(cyclohexyl carbodiimide)] extressed by the formula (R1 and R2 are monofunctional organic group; R3 is bifunctional organic group) and resultant product is subjected to melt extrusion, then biaxially oriented by an inflation method to afford the aimed article. Besides, a temperature of the melt extrusion is preferably 220-320 deg.C and a blowing ratio as a lateral draw ratio is preferably made to 0.6-2.5 times of a drafting ratio as a draw ratio in a take-up direction. |
