PURPOSE:To prevent water due to condensation of steam from getting mixed into lubricant by employing a heat insulating structure in the oil tank wall near the oil surface and at least part of the wall surface above the oil surface. CONSTITUTION:In a bearing device of the Pelton wheel in which the outer circumference of a main shaft 2 is rotatably supported by a bearing metal 3 which is contained in an oil tank 4 to be immersed in lubricant in the oil tank 4 for lubricating the sliding surface of the bearing metal 3, and a jet of fluid is impacted against the outer surface of the wall of the oil tank 4 from outside in order to cool the lubricant in the oil tank 4, a heat insulating structure is employed in the wall of the oil tank 4 near the oil surface and at least part of the wall surface above the oil surface so that the wall surface exposed to the air space in the oil tank 4 may be heat-insulated. In this manner, water due to the condensation of steam inside the oil tank 4 is prevented from getting mixed into the lubricant. |
