摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to consider a shift in the sticking position between two substrates and to accurately set the layer thickness of a liquid crystal layer to specific size by making a cell thickness control material of a hard material, and applying pressure to the couple of substrates and embedding them partially in organic light shield layers. CONSTITUTION:The cell thickness control material 6 is made of the hard material and the couple of substrates 1a and 1b are applied with the pressure and then embedded partially into the organic light shield layers 4a and 4b provided to them. Thus, the organic light shield layers 4a and 4b which cover an side edge part of a transparent electrode and a part other than the transparent electrode are formed on the couple of opposite substrates 1a and 1b respectively, so the position shift at the time of the sticking of the couple of substrates 1a and 1b need not be considered. Further, even if an irregularity is formed by the organic light shield layers 4a and 4b, the thickness of the liquid crystal layer can accurately be set to the specific size.
