ECHINACEA DERIVATIVE, METHOD OF ITS PREPARATION AND PHARMACEUTICALS CONTAINING SAME

PURPOSE: To obtain an Echinacea lipophilic extract usable as a formulation component having immune modifying, anti-inflammatory and antiedematous activities by using carbon dioxide as an extracting solvent under a supercritical condition. CONSTITUTION: This lipophilic extract is obtained by treating roots or phanerophyte parts of Echinacea purpurea Moench and Echinacea angustifolia by using carbon dioxide as an extracting solvent at 35-55 deg.C under a pressure of 110-220 bar, and evaporating the solvent at 25 deg.C under a pressure of 50 bar in a concentrator. This method can selectively extract an active component not polluted by undesirable by-product and inhibit modification (oxidation) of the extract under an extremely mild condition. The extract is extremely effective for elimination of congestion in prostata.
