A suspension of solid particles in a liquid is concentrated by the suspension being conducted into a lower end of a vertical screen conduit 10; 11 of flexible screen cloth. During its passage up through the conduit 10; 11, the suspension is gradually concentrated with the formation of a concentrate consisting of solid particles and remaining liquid, which concentrate is fed out at the upper end of the screen conduit by means of a screw 31 which is arranged in the screen conduit and which operates out of contact with this conduit. A device for concentrating such a suspension has at least one stationary, vertical screen conduit 10; 11 consisting of flexible screen cloth, such as a plastic wire cloth, and members 23, 2630 for supplying suspension to the lower end of the screen conduit. A screw 31 which is arranged in the screen conduit, and which operates out of contact with this conduit, serves to feed out concentrate through the upper end of the screen conduit. At its lower end, the screen conduit 10; 11 is surrounded by a device 24, 25 for collecting liquid which has passed through the wall of the screen conduit. <IMAGE> |
