<p>PURPOSE:To record data with a high compatibility by writing dummy data of a prescribed number of tracks on a magnetic tape after detecting the start point of the tape and recording prescribed format data following this dummy data. CONSTITUTION:When a fresh tape is used, dummy data is written after the start point (BOM) of the magnetic tape which is led out from a cassette pack C and is run is detected, and prescribed format data of a system or the like is recorded after this dummy data reaches a prescribed quantity. Or the extent of tape running after detection of the start point (BOM) is confirmed by detection of the rotational frequency of a tape feed mechanism, and prescribed format data of a system area or the like is recorded when this extent reaches a prescribed value. Thus, the recording position of prescribed format data is not varied to record data with a high compatibility.</p> |
