PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fluid, containing a dispersed phase, a dispersion medium and a polymer additive of a polymer composed of two different constituent units, capable of producing large shearing stress even in applying a weak electric field thereto, simultaneously excellent in current characteristics and stability with time of a current density. CONSTITUTION:The objective fluid is obtained by adding (A) a polymer, composed of (i) 0.1-60wt.% structural units expressed by formula I [R<1> is H or methyl; X is -NR<2>R<3> or -OR<4>; R<2> and R<3> are H or 1-4C alkyl; R<4> is 1-4C alkyl, formula II (R<5> and R<6> are H or methyl; R<7> is H, methyl or ethyl; n is 1-30) or -CH2CHR<8>-NR<9>R<10> (R<8> is H or methyl; R<9> and R<10> are H or 1-4C alkyl)] and (ii) 40-99.9wt.% structural units expressed by formula III (R<11> is H or methyl; Y is aromatic hydrocarbon) and having 1000-10000000 average molecular weight as an additive to (B) organic polymer particles having cation exchange capacity and (C) an insulating liquid consisting essentially of a hydrocarbon- based compound. |
