PURPOSE:To enable the subject processing giving a flexible cellulosic fiber web reduced in the lowering of tearing strength and having excellent W and W properties by reacting a cellulosic fiber web with a treating agent containing both a N-methylol cellulose reactive resin, etc., and a specific polysiloxane. CONSTITUTION:A cellulosic fiber web is immersed in a treating agent containing a N-methylol cellulosic reactive resin or a water-soluble epoxy resin as a base resin and an epoxy-modified polysiloxane as a softening agent and subsequently heated to provide a flexible cellulosic fiber web reduced in the lowering of tear strength and having excellent W and W properties.
