PURPOSE:To enable a molecular film to be patterned without requiring a special device by changing the polarity of a substrate for uniformly holding a substance reversibly changing polarity, and transferring a monomolecular film developed on the surface of water onto the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The substrate 21 is prepared by spin coating a slide glass 1 with a toluene soln. contg. 6'-nitro-1,3,3-trimethylspiro[1-H-benzopyran-2,2'- indoline] and polystyrene and drying it. The surface of the polarity changing substance layer 2 of this substrate 21 is hydrophobic, but only the exposed parts are changed to hydrophilicness by exposing it through a proper mask to UV rays. The substrate 21 with the pattern formed on it is allowed to approach the monomolecular film 4 formed on the surface 5 of the water within condensation partition plates, the substrate 21 is brought into contact with the film 4 gradually from the end of the substrate 21, and then, it is separated from the water surface 5. The film 4 is arranged with the hydrophobic group upward and having the strong affinity for the hydrophobic parts on the substrate 21, only the hydrophobic parts of the substrate 21 can attach the monomolecular film 4. |
