<p>PURPOSE:To improve the compression ratio of pictures so as to reduce the quantity of codes by calculating the sum and difference of frequency components corresponding to each field and rearranging the picture signals in prescribed order. CONSTITUTION:The sum of the i-th components is the sum of the i-th component of the 1st field and i-th component of the 2nd field and the difference between the i-th components is the difference between the i-th component of the 1st field and the i-th component of the 2nd field. When picture signals are orthogonally transformed in the vertical direction in a field and when the i-th component from the component corresponding to the low frequency of vertical frequencies is set at the i-th component, a relation amplitude of 1st component > amplitude of 2nd component > amplitude of 3rd component > amplitude of 4th component is established. When such a component arrangement is used, high-efficiency encoding can be realized, because the amplitude decreases from the upper left to the lower right and the component at the lower right corner is not encoded.</p> |
