A connecting terminal for mounting onto a circuit board has a body of insulating material (4) with connecting pins (16,18) projecting from the underside. Within the body a number of prallel terminals allows the ends (24) of wires to be inserted. Contact with the ends of the wires is provided by a fixed metal contact (30) and a spring contact (8) that is in the form of U section. A release element (48) is freely located within the housing. When pressed (54) downwards the contacts are opened to either release or insert the wire. ADVANTAGE - Simple to produce and use.
