Green luminescent material with good high current density brightness - comprises zinc sulphide doped with aluminium, gold and copper and terbium activated material

Material consists of a ZnS:Cu,Au,Al material and a Tb activated material (TAM). The second component pref. consists of either Y3(Al,Ga)5O12:Tb or LaOCl:Tb. The mixing ratio of ZnS-based material and Rare Earth element based material is 95:5 to 80:20, (pref. 95:5 to 85:15). USE/ADVANTAGE - Material saturates at a low current density, while the other material gives increasing brightness to a higher current density, but a lower starting brightness. Mixt. optimises the current density dependence of the material, resulting in increased brightness at high current density. Material is used in the mfr. of colour cathode ray tubes.
