PURPOSE:To diagnose quickly a large-capacity main storage device to be diagnosed while an ACT system CC gives no effect to the on-line service under execution by using a microprogram stored in a control memory in a SBY system CC to diagnose the main storage device. CONSTITUTION:The microprogram stored in a CM 7 of a CC 6 of the SBY system is used to check the main storage device 8 to be diagnosed. Then the ACT system CC 1 receiving the notice of the result diagnoses the main storage device 8 to be diagnosed. Thus, the main storage device 8 to be diagnosed is diagnosed quickly without giving the on-line service processing executed by the ACT system CC 1.
