An electric direct surface heater for living rooms or other rooms, consists of heating plates fitted with resistance cables, integral thermostats and plugs, the plates being particularly thin-walled. The individual plate is made in one or more pieces by injection or compression moulding or casting tools in any possible form and material but preferably in artificial stone; the heating cable is on the reverse side which has parallel straight or wave-shaped grooves and circular end grooves; the return part of the cable is in a groove about at right angles. The complete cable holder system, including the holder for the thermostat, is produced by injection or compression moulding or casting; alternatively the cable is fitted into this system and the thermostat holding recess is let into it. ADVANTAGE - The product is simpler and cheaper than similar products hitherto. It eliminates machining. Its thermostat, warning lamp or switch and mounting feet, or their holders, are all integral parts so that they permit the product to be readily set up as standing or wall heaters. The method of their production enables them to be made thin with low weight and with various surface finishes. The structure produces extremely close temp. control, as the thermal capacity of the product smoothes out variations.
