PURPOSE:To improve initial capacity and cycle life of a battery by applying a paste prepared by kneading lead dioxide and other lead compound with water or diluted sulfuric acid to an electric collector and using the resulting body as a cathode plate for the battery. CONSTITUTION:A paste of mainly a mixture of lead compounds of lead dioxide, trilead tetraoxide, lead tribasic sulfate, lead tetrabasic sulfate, etc., except lead monoxide with lead and kneaded with water or diluted sulfuric acid is applied to an electric collector. At that time, in electrode manufacturing processes, maturation, drying, and chemical conversion processes can be omitted and thus simplifying the processes and shortening the manufacturing time are achieved and at the same time bonding force between granules of active mass of lead compounds becomes firm by, for example mechanical intermingling whiskers of lead tribasic sulfate and lead tetrabasic sulfate with lead dioxide, trilead tetraoxide, lead, etc., and repeating dissolution and deposition among the lead compounds, and further the bonding force between the electric collector and the active mass becomes firm by dissolution and deposition of lead of the collector and the lead compounds. The initial capacity and cycle life are thus improved. |
