PURPOSE:To perform color thermal transfer recording at a high speed, by transferring a multicolor ink sheet in an inclined state and arranging a line thermal head in a fixed state. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 10 is constituted of line like heat generating element rows 11-13 for three colors and an ink sheet 20 arranged in an inclined state is transferred to one direction N so that the color regions C, M, Y thereof are respectively superposed to the heat generating element rows 11-13. Therefore, by transferring not only the ink sheet 20 in the N-direction without transferring the thermal head 10 but also recording paper to an M-direction corresponding thereto, a color image is thermally transferred to and recorded on the recording paper without performing the movement for main scanning and sub-scanning of the thermal head. As a result, control becomes easy and recording can be performed at a high speed. |
