To form a matting of spun fibres and/or filaments, from a blow spinning appts. which forms the material from molten polymer through a spinarette head, the matting material is formed from filaments which, between the jet openings and the material support surface, is a smooth and/or a crimped monofilament and/or several smooth and/or several crimped monofilaments. In addition, or alternatively, a smooth and/or a crimped filament yarn and/or several smooth and/or several crimped filament yarns can be used. The monofilaments and the filament yarns are based on a modulus of at least 1 cN/dtex. Filament carrier jets are used to assist the movement of the monofilaments and/or filament yarns and to help lay them in place.
