A diverted part of the delivery current flows through the column tube space for heat dissipation and bearing lubrication. A bearing close to the pump is formed as only a radial bearing, and by the radial bearing (10) remote from the pump a double axial bearing (14) is provided. This latter bearing is enclosed on the pump side by the holed base (15) of a pot-shaped insert (18). An axial running surface (19) on the housing is for an axial bearing surface on the shaft facing the pump side. It also accommodates an axial running surface (21) on the shaft facing the end of the column tube space (7b) remote from the pump.
