PURPOSE:To make the gradient of the toe part sharp by incorporating a specified compound into a silver halide emulsion layer contg. a specified magenta coupler and other specified compound into a nonphotosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A magenta coupler represented by formula I and a compound represented by formula III are incorporated into at least one of silver halide emulsion layers, and a compound represented by formula II is incorporated into a nonphotosensitive layer adjacent to the silver halide emulsion layer. In the formula I, Z is a group of nonmetallic atoms required to form a heterocyclic ring contg. N, X is H or a substituent eliminable by a reaction with the oxidized product of a color developing agent and R is H or a substituent. In the formula II, each of R21-R24 is H, halogen or the like. In the formula III, R31 is 1-5C alkyl and R32 is H or 1-5C alkyl. The resulting silver halide photographic sensitive material has high light resistance and the gradient of the toe part is efficiently made sharp without producing an adverse effect such as fog. |
