PURPOSE:To obtain a reversal pawl apparatus excellent in bite function and registering accuracy, by constituting a pawl member of a combination of the main pawl mounted to one common shaft and the sub-pawl opposed to said main pawl. CONSTITUTION:A pawl member biting paper 51 in cooperation with a pawl seat is constituted of a combination of the main pawl 8 mounted to one common shaft and the sub-pawl 9 opposed to said main pawl 8. At the time of the printing of a single surface, the front edge of the paper 51 is delivered between the main pawl 8 and a receiving part 22 at the opposed contact point with a reversal cylinder 48 while the sub-pawl 9 is kept perfectly stopped and held to a state retracted in a space 27. At the time of the printing of both surfaces, the rear edge of the paper 51 is received by the main pawl 8 and the sub-pawl 9 cooperated with each other. After the paper 51 is reversed upside down by the revolution of both pawls, said paper 51 is bitten by the main pawl 8 and the receiving part 22 without generating registering shift at all. Because the sub-pawl 9 already performed its duties during one feed cycle, said sub-pawl 9 retracts to the space 27.
