<p>: A fire blocking liner is proposed for location in an aircraft seat cushion (either lower or back cushion) between the inner core of foam and the outer dress cover. In addition to being made of a fire resistant material, this liner is designed to act as a tray to retain liquified foam in the event of a fire, thus helping to avoid spreading the fire. In the case of the lower cushion, the tray effect is achieved by constructing the bottom and side panels of a substantially liquid tight, metalised fire resistant material. On the other hand, the upper panel on which the passenger sits is made of an unmetalised material for comfort. In the case of the back cushion, the major portion of the front vertical panel against which the passenger leans is again made of unmetalised material for comfort, while the tray effect is achieved by using the metalised material for the lower portion of this front panel and for the corresponding lower portions of the rear and side vertical panels as well as the bottom panel.</p> |
