<p>PURPOSE:To surely prevent paper jam by allowing a paper sensor to detect that the loadage of papers exceeds the limit for terminating discharge papers, prohibiting copy and driving an alarm system as necessary. CONSTITUTION:A paper sensor 18, which has a light emitter 16 and a light receiver 17 faced to each other at an inclination alpha of 2-3 deg. to the level surface of a discharge tray 12, provides reliable detection of a paper 14, including the plane portion on the upper side, at a consistent position. When the paper 14 is copied and discharged, the sensor 18 detects condition how it is discharged in. If it takes less 5 seconds to finish operation from paper discharge to paper placing on the discharge tray 12, the discharge tray 12 is moved upward (or downward) and shifted for the acceptance of the next discharge paper. If the operation is still continued after 5 seconds or more passed, such a measure is taken as the movement to the next tray 12 for loading, the drive of an alarm for full-load situation, or no start of a copying machine 11.</p> |
