PRODUCTION OF PIEZOELECTRIC CERAMICS

PURPOSE:To obtain a piezoelectric ceramics having high reliability of the quality and composed of a dense ceramic surface layer and a porous core part at a low cost by impregnating a slurry composed of a piezoelectric ceramic powder and a binder in a porous sheet which disappears by baking, forming the impregnated sheet and baking the product. CONSTITUTION:A slurry composed of a piezoelectric ceramic powder (e.g. powder of lead titanate-lead zirconate ceramics) and a binder is impregnated in and attached to a porous sheet which disappears by baking (e.g. foamed polyurethane sheet) and the sheet is formed. The formed material is baked at a prescribed temperature to obtain the objective piezoelectric ceramics having a dense ceramic layer on the surface and containing porous layer as a core part.
