PURPOSE:To eliminate a fill-in so as to improve reliability by inputting a drive signal in response to image information to an energy working section, generating bubbles in ink, and attaching an ink flown from an ink surface caused by the working force due to instantaneous growth of the bubbles to a body to be recorded. CONSTITUTION:An ink 19 supplied to an ink supply chamber 3 from an ink supply pipe 2 passes through a fine slit 5 by the capillary phenomenon so as to fill the whole area of a comb-like flow passage 8 surrounded by barriers 7. When the ink 19 can not be supplied and held satisfactorily in the whole area of the flow passage 8 by only the capillary phenomenon, a water head difference may be used by adjusting heights of an ink tank and a record head 1. Thus, in a steady state where the height of an ink surface is adjusted so as to fill the whole area of the flow passage 8 with the ink 19 and to cover each heater 9 with the ink 19, bubbles are generated in the ink on heated heat generating layers 14 when each heat generating layer 14 is energized individually in response to image information. The ink 19 flies on the surfaces of the heaters 9 almost vertically due to the motive force of the bubbles. |
